En hoe groot moeten ze zijn? Waar moeten we ze plaatsen om de levering te optimaliseren? Hoeveel voorraad hebben we op elke locatie? Welke transportmethoden en -routes gebruiken we? Veel van deze uitdagingen kunnen worden aangepakt door gegevens te analyseren. Door gebruik te maken van de gegevens die vaak al beschikbaar zijn in het ERP-systeem, kunnen we de marktkenmerken van onze doelmarkt onderzoeken. Door de kosten te kwantificeren, kunnen we vervolgens het optimale scenario bepalen met behulp van een wiskundig model.<\/p>\n<p>Voor een landelijke speler in consumentengoederen analyseerden we de spreiding van hun klantenbestand over het land. Vervolgens adviseerden we over de optimale plaatsing en hoeveelheid van magazijnen. Bij deze evaluatie kan rekening worden gehouden met factoren die verder gaan dan alleen de harde kosten, zoals leveringssnelheid of CO2-uitstoot. Door een wiskundige benadering van alle beschikbare gegevens vermijden we giswerk of vertrouwen op gemiddelden. Dit is vooral cruciaal omdat uitschieters vaak de grootste kansen bieden. Het hier toegepaste model is gebaseerd op academische modellen, die algemeen bekend zijn, maar in de praktijk vaak alleen in dure software te vinden zijn.<\/p>\n<p>Met behulp van een wiskundig model kunnen we objectief de meest gunstige magazijnlocaties bepalen op basis van de criteria van de organisatie. Maar daar houdt de uitdaging meestal niet op: Hoeveel voorraad moet er op die locaties worden opgeslagen? En hoe vullen we de overslaglocaties aan vanuit centrale leveringen?
