Supply Value’s traineeship program offers young talents the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills while making a direct impact on a variety of clients. To gain a clearer picture of what the traineeship entails, we spoke with Marit Leusink, a consultant in Supply Chain and operations at Supply Value.
Marit joined Supply Value in February after completing her master’s in Marketing at Vrije Universiteit. During her master’s program, she gained full-time experience in retail, working on logistics, e-commerce, and operational management. Previously, Marit earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and business economics, building a solid foundation for her consultancy role.
At Supply Value, she was able to jump straight into her role as a consultant. She sees one of the biggest advantages of the traineeship as being the opportunity to fully integrate into the organization from day one. “In addition, the traineeship offers the freedom to take courses and training in different areas,” Marit explains. “You are given the responsibility and space to develop in a direction that truly suits you.”
Making an Impact
Currently, Marit is working within the healthcare sector on a large feasibility study for setting up an innovative treatment centre. “I support the project manager with planning, interviews, analysis, and reporting,” she shares. This project gives her the opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative concept in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape, something she is incredibly proud of.
She was also involved in a planning optimization project for a large international retailer. “By setting up an interdepartmental planning system, we optimized staffing in their warehouse.” According to Marit, these types of projects demonstrate how trainees at Supply Value not only learn but also add real value to their clients.
However, her work isn’t limited to client projects. She also played a key role in Supply Value’s quality management audit, which led to the company regaining its ISO 9001 certification. Additionally, she is working on a study that every consultant at Supply Value conducts. Soon, she will publish a paper with insights into sustainability trends and challenges within the retail sector.
The Traineeship as an Accelerator
Trainees are also involved in internal projects and have the opportunity to take part in training that challenges them to quickly develop essential skills. “You’re thrown into the deep end, but with great guidance, which means you learn a lot in a short time,” says Marit. “The combination of practical experience and support has helped me make significant strides in a short period.”
Over the past nine months, she has not only expanded her knowledge of supply chain and operations but also gained valuable skills such as time management. Her self-confidence has grown as well: “I’ve learned not just to rely on my knowledge but also on myself as a professional.”

Looking toward the future, Marit is excited about the opportunities that await her after the traineeship. “I want to develop broadly, so I can take on ambitious projects and share my knowledge,” she says. “The traineeship at Supply Value prepares me for a successful career, full of opportunities and challenges.”
